MediaStar Evolution Typical Applications

Financial Trading Rooms

Keeping in touch with the latest financial news or world events is vital today's modern financial trading room. Satellite and CATV channels such as CNN, CNBC and Sky News are broadcast through the Cat-5/UTP cabling. Timed delivery of individual channels allow Analysts' broadcasts to be delivered to selcted TVs or PCs.

Corporate Offices

MediaStar Pro is able to deliver a uniform message from the CEO and distribute breaking news to multiple large screen displays and PC workstations simultaneously. Larger organsations can add to their system simply by looping together MediaStar Pro hubs and adding users. The addition of users has no impact on the LAN.

Education

Universities, colleges and schools use MediaStar Pro connected to their structured cabling system to deliver lectures and educational material, live or from a server to any number of screens in different classrooms throughout their campus.

Sports Stadia

Networking a large number of displays through the MediaStar Pro system, a sports stadium is able to select and control delivery of information to different areas depending on the audience. So, during a match, coverage can be displayed throughout the stadium, but at a seminar, the screens can be used to display archived footage of VHS or DVD.

Leisure and Retail

Deliver video and audio from a variety of content sources. So a Shopping Mall, Health Club or Sports Bar could show live football from a satellite channel whilst at the same time displaying music TV, news or advertising on other screens. Control is entirely in the operator's hands.

Hotels and Hospitality

Presentations, product promotions or messages can be delivered to a wide variety of diplay devices. Hotels may welcome guests with messages on a Plasma screen in the foyer, whilst the hospitality suite at a racecourse may to prefer to combine live race coverage on the TV screen with a promotional presentation

EvoNet Digital Signage Diagram

Networked Point-of-Sale Signage

Connect a host of input devices
The MediaStar Evolution HD/SD Digital Signage Media Player, (Part 760/2M), is a video playout device, which can operate reliably on its own, or can be networked to provide remote control, automated content download, and synchronised video playout with other 760/2M units. High quality video and audio, reliable ‘maintenance free’ operation, small physical size, and software future proofing are the essential features of this product that makes it well suited to large scale, distributed deployments.

Render live MPEG-2/4 encoded streams, deliver HTML and up-to-the-minute web pages, retrieve and playout MPEG-2/4 and HTML files stored on a network.

Receive AV input from locally generated analogue sources or via connection to an existing MediaStar Pro or Compact system.

Output to any device
The Evolution 760/2M unit consists of a High Definition video playout ‘engine’ with 2Gbytes of on-board non-volatile ‘flash’ storage, that can be expanded when ordering to 8Gbytes. It has a 100BaseT IP network interface, and a number of additional connectors that allow the unit to operate in interactive customer applications with a Keyboard and Mouse, IR remote controls, contact closure inputs, IP triggers and RS232 controls.

Networked or Stand-Alone Operation
Operation can be either in stand-alone mode, where new playlists and video content are loaded by simply inserting a USB memory key, or units can be networked together with a central server which allows them to periodically download new playlists and new video files for in-location playout.

Targeted Delivery
Tailor digital signage content, messages and multimedia content direct to specific targeted screens and configure/control via simple software for content creation, updating, customisation and synchronisation.

Digital Signage over IP

Networked Signage
Networking means new content can be delivered to the store/office location and prepared for use overnight, when existing shop network communications are not being used for till credit card or similar transactions. The 760/2M unit can playout video files that have been created in MPEG1, MPEG2 and MPEG4 formats, in both standard definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) resolutions. In addition, the unit can show Web pages and local s-video and composite video inputs.

Scheduled playout
The display of content is controlled by a playlist, which sets the sequence of files to play, the time of day to play them, and it facilitates marking playout positions that get ‘jumped’ to when specific ‘triggers’ are received. When multiple 760/2M units are used together, a shared trigger can make multiple units start playing out together, allowing media creation that shows visual elements moving from one screen to the next. HTML windows can also be overlaid on top of video clips or a HTML based ‘background’.

Control and Administration

Playlist and Scheduling
MediaStar Evolution allows complete control at the touch of a button. Manage media types, users, media output, and display devices from any location to distribute television and multimedia both locally and globally at any time or any place. With Evolution’s ‘drag and drop’ Administration Software, managing and distributing TV and media couldn’t be easier or more effective.

Depoy co-located or geographically dispersed Evolution Digital Signage Players, Part 760/2M, throughout an IP network and deliver tailored MPEG-2/4 SD and HD files. Tailor a playlist of content to specific groups or individual Evolution Digital Signage Players and distribute to any screen connected to an IP network.

Reliable and Versatile

Linux Reliability
The 760/2M unit is based on a reliable Linux software environment, and it has the ability to completely update its operating system and application software. This provides the potential to further enhance the functionality of EvoNet units after they have been deployed, without costly site visits.

HD Output Resolutions
Video is output in a wide variety of formats including Composite, S-Video, VGA - WXGA, RGB, YPbPr, DVI-D, HDMI, at up 1080P resolutions. This makes the unit compatible with all kinds of displays, with high definition resolutions particularly useful where displays are close to the users and good resolution images are required.

Synchronise the Message

Coordinated Signage Output
Synchronise the playout of MPEG-2/4 files or HTML content across screens. Evolution can automatically detect new content entered via a USB key or can be set to retrieve MPEG-2/4 and HTML files at convenient times.

A retail chain may choose to update its entire store network by placing new content to a location on a server and the units would be set to check for new content in the middle of the night when network traffic would be low and automatically download the new files ready to be played out the next day.

Units can be set so that if they are a member of a group in a store, they would automatically redistribute the new content to others in the group.
